FIRST AID SERVICE TEAM (F.A.S.T.)
The First Aid Service Team provides youth and young adults exciting opportunities and valuable training with the American Red Cross. Here is an opportunity to develop leadership, social, and job skills while serving your community. The F.A.S.T. team provides First Aid at local community events and teaches younger members of the community First Aid and CPR classes.
Exciting Opportunities and Valuable Training Opportunities!
Team Members (ages 14 to 24):
- Learn CPR for the Professional Rescuer
- Learn Basic Red Cross First Aid
- Provide Patient Care at Community Events and Athletic Competitions
- Teach Younger Children Safety Skills and Information
- Represent the Red Cross as an Ambassador of our Fundamental Principles
- Develop Leadership and Professional Skills, Friendships, and Community Contacts
Adult Advisors (must be over 21 years of age):
- Share professional skills as a First Responder, EMT, Nurse, or Physician by overseeing the patient care provided by FAST members
- Coach, mentor, and teach FAST member in their role providing care and education to the public
- Represent American Red Cross as an Ambassador of our Fundamental Principles
- Rotate responsibilities for coordinating team events and meetings
Advisors must be licensed as a First Responder, EMT, Nurse, or Physician or be able to attend an 80 hour American Red Cross Emergency Response Course. Course fees are waived.

Are You Hosting an Event? Do You Want FAST Service? F.A.S.T. services are FREE to non-profit and grass-root organizations. Donations are accepted.
Contact the Tom Burkland at (360)733-3290 ext. 3022 and be prepared to give the following information:
- Date, time, and location of the upcoming event
- The nature of the activities to take place
- The number of participants expected
- The type of service required to meet the needs of your organization
Requests for service are presented to the volunteer FAST members for approval at monthly meetings.
Approval is based on volunteer availability, date/time conflicts, likelihood of injury at the event, and other American Red Cross commitments. Upon approval, a written agreement will be initiated for signature by the organizations involved.
